Please
discuss the following information with your child.
Emergency
Preparedness Information:
In the event of a major earthquake or disaster, telephones
will almost surely be dysfunctional. The school district
will transmit radio update information on 1190 AM,
KNWZ, whenever possible. Tape this frequency number
to your emergency transistor radio.
In
the event of a major destructive earthquake, all students
will be kept at school until they can be released
to their parent or other emergency-card-authorized
adult who comes to pick them up or until it is safe
for the student to walk home or school bus transportation
is available. Please be sure that those adults listed
on your emergency card are aware that you have authorized
them to pick up your child/ren in the event of an
emergency.
All
school gates will be LOCKED in the event of a major
quake. We MUST NOT begin releasing students until
we have accounted for everybody. It will take time
to account for everyone and implement the release
system. The goal is thoroughness, not haste. It is
likely that traffic will be impossible; try to walk.
Student
Pickup Procedures
Before
the earthquake: Fill out and have on file at the school
the yellow Emergency Card listing names of persons
to whom your child may be released. Include both
parents as appropriate (consider divorced spouses)
as well as several neighbors, friends, and relatives.
Plan carefully; you may be hurt or away from the area. |
